Research

Research interests include probabilistic risk analysis of nuclear facilities, severe accident behavior of nuclear power plants, the design of inherently safe reactors, and reactor physics. Dr. Denning also holds the position Sr. Research Leader at Battelle Memorial Institute where he has responsibility for safety system upgrades in a major DOE program to improve the safety of Russian nuclear power plants.

In 2004 he was appointed to the Nuclear Regulatory Commission’s Advisory Committee on Reactor Safeguards
