Graduate Students

Mission Statement 

The mission of the Mechanical Engineering Graduate Program is to educate Master’s and Doctoral degree students through coursework, research, and participation in the development of innovative solutions to problems in mechanical engineering. The Mechanical Engineering Graduate Program will enable its graduates to become leaders in their discipline and provide technological and societal advancement through fundamental and applied research in science and engineering.

 

Current Student News 

  • Mechanical engineering student group started
    • The mechanical engineering student group has been started. The first meeting of the year will be on Friday October 3, immediately following the ME 888 seminar.
  • October 31 - Graduate Student Research Day
    • All current ME graduate students are encouraged to participate in the first ME graduate student research day. There will be a poster session in the morning for YOU to highlight and discuss your research with other ME students and faculty. The ME 888 seminar that afternoon will feature 2 sets of student presentations where you can decide what presentations you would like to see. The requirement of ME 888 that we will to see any combination of three presentations. There will be more information coming soon, but if you have questions about the research day, contact megradprogram@osu.edu.
  • November 21 - ME 888: Town Hall Meeting with 'Cheena' Srinivasan
    • Here's an opportunity to hear about the departments goals, find out how you fit in, and also interact with the department chair with your questions, concerns, comments, etc. It's a great opportunity and we hope you'll participate!

Upcoming Deadlines and Important Dates

September 24, 2008 Wed • First day of classes for Autumn Qtr.
    • Last day for continuing students to register initially without penalty.
September 26, 2008 Fri • Last day to transfer colleges or make a campus change for Autumn '08.
    • Last day to add an Autumn Qtr course without instructor’s written permission. (Advisor signature required for graduate students after this date)
October 3, 2008 Fri • Application to graduate for master’s and doctoral students due in 247 University Hall
    • Last day for new and former/returning students to register initially without a penalty.
    • Last day to add an Autumn Qtr course with just written permission of instructor 
October 8, 2008 Wed • Deadline for Autumn Quarter students to withdraw from or enroll in and pay for Student Health Insurance.
    • “15th Day” for Autumn Quarter. The University reserves the right to refuse registration and/ or fee payment after this date.
October 10, 2008 Fri • Last day to add an Autumn Qtr course with written permission of instructor and dept chair.
    • Last day to register for Audit option for Autumn Quarter. 
    • Last day to add an Autumn Quarter course without petitioning (Third Week Rule).
    • Last day to drop an Autumn Quarter course without a “W” on your record.
